Speaking at the distribution of food items to constituents at the Lokoja local government Secretariat on Saturday, Head of Media and Publicity to the lawmaker, Comrade Ibrahim S. Nuhu@ said over 2,200 people, women, youths, party leaders, vulnerable groups and religious leaders were targeted to benefit from the empowerment scheme.

He said he was fulfilling his pledge to always stand by his constituents in times of need.

The lawmaker said his primary responsibility is to make law and represent the interests of his constituents, but would not hesitate to come through for them during tough times.

“As your representative my primary duties are to propose laws that will help us achieve our goals, represent the interest of my constituents, and oversee the executive arm of government to ensure better service delivery. However, during tough times like this in the life of our nation, it is also a matter of duty and responsibility for me to support my constituents through social intervention programmes such as the one happening today.”

Noting that the flag-off ceremony is a symbolic kickstart of the distribution, Aguye said all beneficiaries who are unable to be at the venue due to the inconvenience of pulling such a large number in a location will surely receive their packs.

“He said; “this is just the tip of the iceberg. We have various intervention programmes that will be executed as we go along. I am happy to announce that shortly, I will also be reaching out to senior citizens and widows as part of our social intervention programme.

“Be assured that I will stand by you in all circumstances. All I request is your support and understanding always as we roll out these programmes one after the other,” he said.

The event was attended by community and religious leaders, leaders of thoughts, party chieftains and other stakeholders from across the federal Constituency.
