A community leader and former Provost, College of Agriculture Kabba, Dr. Akin Oloniruha has been appointed as the Chairman, Central Planning Committee of the 2024 edition of the most celebrated community event in the North Central of Nigeria, Kabba Day 2024.
In a letter signed by the President General, Kabba Development Union, Engr. Emmanuel Ajibero indicated that Dr. Akin Oloniruha has been appointed as the Chairman, Central planning committee for Kabba Day 2024
The letter further indicated that Kabba Development Union assured to give there maximum support to the Chairman, central planning committee and his team while appreciated him for accepting the onerous task of service to the community.
Another community leader, Mr Justin Bello is to serve as Secretary of the Central planning committee.
Dr Akin Oloniruha was born in Kabba over six decades ago. He had his early education at St Andrew’s primary school Kabba from where he proceeded to St Banarbas Secondary School and finished in 1976 with WASC division 1.
Dr Akin Oloniruha had his A levels at the then Kwara State College of Technology between 1976 to 1978. He studied Agriculture at the premier and prestigious University of Ibadan from 1978 to 1982.
He later obtained a masters and doctorate degree. He has a rich private sector experience in large scale farms notable amongst them were as Assistant farm manager, PresAgric integrated farms, Iseyin ( a 2000 hectares subsidiary of President Industries plc.) And Farm Manager, Norbru farms Ltd. Keffi (a 10000 hectare subsidiary of North breweries, Kano.
He joined the services of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1998. His area of teaching and research are Agricultural Biochemistry, crop production, soil survey and land evaluation. He has published several scholarly articles in local and international journals. He has also attended several courses, seminars and workshops both at home and abroad.
He has held several Administrative positions and served in various committees at Ahmadu Bello University one of which was His appointment as Provost of College of Agriculture Kabba, an opportunity he used to convert the college into a foremost 21st century institution placing it squarely on the world map. He is still active in farming, teaching, research, and community service. He is a consultant to several large-scale farms across the west and East African coast. He loves reading, travelling, music and playing tennis. Dr. Akin Oloniruha is a Christian, happily married with children.
