The foundation for the Kabba-Bunu Local Hunters Security Base has been laid adjacent Kogi State University, Kabba.
At the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kabba-Bunu Security Base on Monday, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus, caretaker chairman of the Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, said the initiative is part of his administration’s efforts to beef up security at the grassroots level.
Also speaking, HRM Oba Solomon Owoniyi, the Obaro of Kabba, described the initiative as a welcome development in the wake of the widespread insecurity in the local government area.
The local government secretary, Hon Oyenibi Omojola (Ajon) said the establishment of the local hunters security base at Kogi State University, Kabba would help curb criminal activities around the university area.
In his remark, HRH Oba Akin Obamero, the Oba of Gbeleko, appreciated those who supported the initiative and other development-oriented programmes in the community. The monarch said the collaboration between the community and the leadership of the Kabba-Bunu LGA has contributed to the success of several projects carried out so far in the community.
HRH Oba Obaromi Sunday, the Oba of Kakun expressed optimism that having security base presence in the area would foster peace and foster socio-economic development.
Mr Mathew Ajigi, a resident, said the lack of security base presence in the area before now makes it difficult to report criminal activities.
“As we get a security base in our area now, we will have a peaceful and more secured environment. We’ll also be able to sleep very well,” he said.
The Chairman appreciates the cooperation of the Kogi State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in facilitating the prompt approval that has made this laudable project a reality.
He also commended the paramount ruler present and other Kabiyeses for their continuous support in restoring peace and order to our communities.
