The Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, Caretaker Chairman, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael has congratulated H.E Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for the victory at the Governorship Election Petition Court, and described it as “another well-deserved victory.”
Reacting to the court verdict, Zacchaeus, in a statement by his SA on New Media, Comr Omofa John, said the All Progressives Congress, APC, members across Kogi State worked very hard for the victory enjoyed at the November 11th governorship election, noting that “today’s Governorship Election Petition Court’s decision, which was in favour of the sitting Governor is comforting and also an affirmation of the will of over Three Hundred Thousand Kogites who filed out to cast their ballots for the APC and Governor Ododo as their choice.”
The Chairman said “Kogites have spoken through the ballots and the Court has also validated the citizens’ decision by today’s judicial pronouncements, which upheld the victory of Governor Ododo during the 2023 gubernatorial poll.”
Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael said thousands of Kogites were not in doubt as regards the mandate freely given to Governor Ododo to steer the ship of Kogi for four years based on his track records and laudable achievements in his few months in office.
According to Zacchaeus: “What we are witnessing today is the beauty of democracy and the rule of law. We had an election in November last year where Kogites voted to elect Ahmed Usman Ododo as the Governor of Kogi State.
“We ordinarily thought that the losers should have displayed a good spirit of sportsmanship by congratulating the winner (Governor Ododo) but they chose to contest the election results, which is within their rights. Now that election and the results have been upheld by the Court. I hope they would do the needful.
“I congratulate the Governor and Chief Security Officer of Kogi State, Governor Usman Ododo on his well deserved victory at the Governorship Election Tribunal Court.
“I also congratulate the leadership and members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, and all Kogites at home and in the Diaspora on this very landmark judicial victory.”
Zacchaeus, therefore, urged Kogites across the party divides “to team up with H.E Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to deliver the real dividends of democracy to Kogites through the “Consolidation Agenda” of the incumbent administration.
