A former Governorship aspirant and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Dr. Erico Joseph Ameh has applauded the decision of the Governor of Kogi state, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for approving a new minimum wage and even increase above Federal government rate for civil servant in Kogi state.
The security expert, in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Lokoja, the state capital commended the Governor for his penchant for workers welfare which he noted has been the Governor’s guiding principles.
Your Excellency sir, since your assumption of office early in the year, you have demonstrated to Nigerians that you are a workers- friendly Governor through your programmes and policies which are geared at improving the welfare of Kogi workers.
” Your action to approve #72,500 minimum wage for civil servants in Kogi state is a record-breaking new minimum wage as the highest minimum wage in Nigeria. Your Excellency, sir, history will be kind to you.
Let me also commend your new approval for implementation, which includes a 12-month suspension of all taxation elements attached, which will further enhance the take-home pay of civil servants in Kogi state. Your approval for the new minimum wage to take effect immediately as the implementation of the consequential adjustment are ratified are highly commendable as such would go along way to tackle the current economic hardship which our people are going through.
