The Methodist Church of Nigeria is to establish a secondary school and a modern health centre in Kabba.
The Prelate of the church, His Eminence, Dr Oliver Ali Abah made this known today when he was at the Royal Court of Kabba to pay a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty, the Obaro of Kabba, Oba (Dr) Solomon Dele Owoniyi.
Dr Abah said the projects would take off as soon as the community made land available.
Expressing his appreciation to the Prelate for the projects, which he said would promote the development of Kabba and boost the health of the people, the Obaro recalled that the missionaries of the church had arrived in Kabba in 1922 with a wish to set up a missionary post in the community but that the reigning Obaro then, Obaro Gbayero Ajibohokun turned down their request for land to build their church.
Oba Owoniyi said the missionaries then made their way to Otukpo in today’s Benue State where they built their church and established the famous Jesus College.
He expressed the apology of the community to the church for the error of the past and promised that the land required for the two projects would be made available.
The Prelate was accompanied to the palace by the bishops of the adjoining dioceses of the church.
