During an event in Ile-Ife, the Obaro of Kabba and chairman, Okun Area Traditional Council, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, praised the Ooni of Ife for his efforts in uniting Yoruba communities across Nigeria. He commended Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ojaja ll for accommodating all Yoruba speaking people and creating opportunities for them to connect with their roots.
While speaking with newsmen on the sideline when the Afenifere was at the palace of Ooni to commemorate with the monarch on the occasion of his 50th birthday anniversary, Oba Dele Owoniyi stated, “The Oni of Ife has done so much to harmonize the Yoruba race wherever they may be. He ensures that every Yoruba person has the chance to express themselves and reconnect with their heritage.”
The Obaro of Kabba also called on mainstream Yoruba communities to reach out to Yoruba communities in fringe areas, such as Kogi and Kwara to help them reconnect with their roots. He emphasized the importance of unity among the Yoruba people and urged for more efforts to strengthen their bond.
On the issue of national restructuring, Oba Dele Awoniyi expressed his support for measures that will lead to the development and progress of Nigeria. He stated, “Nigeria should be better than what it is currently. I stand for anything that can promote unity, development, and growth in our country.”
The Obaro’s comments highlight the need for unity among all Yoruba speaking people, regardless of their location, and the importance of working together towards a better Nigeria.
