The prestigious Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja came alive in unusual manner on Friday, Dec. 5, 2024 as top political office holders, top entrepreneurs, clergy men, traditional rulers and youth groups gathered for good reasons.

It was a night to honour individuals and brands who have distinguished themselves in excellent service delivery to the Nigerian masses in their spheres of influence at the Stardom Global Awards and the 17th induction into Stardom Global Hall of Fame organized by SGtv.
Top on the list of those who made the list of awardees after a rigorous online voting exercise that saw winners emerge through popular choice and transparent process include, Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo who lifted the trophy as Governor of the Year (Civil Service Development).
Others are, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Dr. Obafemi Hamzat who was honoured as Deputy Governor of the Year as well as the Chief Executive Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) Engr Gbenga Komolafe who was honored the Petroleum Sector Personality of the Year and Executive Commissioner at the Nigeria Communications Commissioner, Technical Services, Engr Abraham Oshadami.
Others who won include, the acting Vice Chancellor University of Abuja, Prof. Aisha Sani Maikudi who won Vice Chancellor of the Year, member re Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency of Kogi State, Hon. Arc. Salman Idris who was honoured as House Member of the Year and the Executive Secretary, National Senior Secondary Education Commission, Dr. Iyela Ajayi who emerged the Executive Secretary of the Year.
In his remarks, the Chairman Emeritus of Sgtv, Hon. Bode Adeyemi while congratulating winners of the 2024 edition of Sgtv award said their contributions have contributed in raising the bar of nation-building.
He said meaningful development happens when individuals play their role excellently in the leadership positions they have found themselves, stating that it is the cumulative effect of these efforts that translate to national development.
He said as a responsible organization, Sgtv has remained at the forefront in tracking performances of those in leadership positions to ascertain how their policy directions affect the country’s general populace.
He added, “Where we need to advise, we advise, we we need to criticize, we do it constructively and where we need to applaud, we applaud so as to spur others to do well”, he stated.
He added, “As a media organization that is saddled with the responsibility of setting agenda for national development, we consider it a very important to always conduct a review for people that are doing well. If it is permitted in the society to discuss and condemn poor performances, I think it’s also fundamentally necessary that you recognize people who are still raising the bar of excellence for collective prosperity of all of us.
“Tonight, after one month of online voting exercise to select the best in each of the categories of 54 nominations, I’m particularly very proud to congratulate those that made it to this point. And I hope and I believe that with what we are doing today, you will be encourage to do more, because we all have agreed that the reward for doing good is to do more.”
In his remarks, the governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo who spoke on behalf of the awardees said the recognition is an endorsement and vote of confidence by the people of Kogi State who massively rooted for him during the online voting exercises.
Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones the governor said such encouragements go a long way in making leaders understand that their initiatives are making impact on the lives of the masses.
He pledged the commitment of his administration to entrench excellent leadership and treat with utmost importance the welfare of civil servants in the state.
The exhilarating award ceremony also saw guests thrilled with electrifying cultural display, good music, dance and comedy.
