Cleaning Up Lokoja Township On 1st January, Engr. Joseph Oluwasegun, Ministry Staff, Gets Commendation.

The Kogi State Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management has been praised for swiftly rising to the occasion in cleaning up Lokoja Metropolis following the celebration that greeted the new year with many citizens burning tyres on the roads.

Recalled that the capital was littered with burnt tyres and other Filth following the celebration by resident that ushered in the new year. The roads and streets became impassable in some cases in the metropolis.

In a statement, Abu Michael , Editor in Chief, The Nigerian Post Newspaper, commended the activities of the State Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management, praised them from returning the sanitary condition of the capital to it normal after the celebration

The Editor commended the proactive stance taken by the Commissioner, Engr. Joseph Oluwasegun, praised him for immediately deploying men and women of the Ministry to clear up the burnt tyres amongst other dirty materials left on the road.

He described the proactive stance of the Commissioner as commendable, pointing out that Lokoja, the capital is a gateway, with many motorists and travellers criss crossing the State, reason why it needed to be kept clean at all times.

The Editor said Engr. Joseph has brought a new lease of life to the Ministry, described the recent intervention in clearing up Lokoja on 1st January, 2025 as worthy of commendation.

The Editor however cautioned against the burning of Tyres on the roads during such celebration, pointing out that the damage done to the road cannot be imagined.

” While we are appealing to residents to stop destruction of infrastructure. This infrastructure didn’t come easy. Government has a lot of responsibilities. While we are encouraging them to do more, we will be doing ourselves disservice destroying with our hands infrastructure that are already in place”.

The Editor urged the National Orientation Agency to intensify sensitization on the need to protect government infrastructure, commended the Kogi State Ministry of Environment for doing a yeoman’s job on the 1st day of January, when they ought to be on holiday.
