The National Inland Waterways Authority Niger/Kwara area office, in collaboration with Niger state government, has commissioned a new patrol boat “Gurara” at Katcha Waterfront Katcha local government area of Niger state.

In his speech, the Managing Director of NIWA, Mr Bola Oyebamij Fcib, who was represented by Engr. Mohammed Dangana (Ag.GM Special Duties) said the boat is designed to enhance security and surveillance capability and ensure the safety of the Authority’s personnel, assets, and the community. He reiterated the commitment of NIWA to safety and the security of the people.

He thanked stakeholders and state governments for their support and collaboration.
The Niger state Commissioner of Transport Hajia Hadiza Kuta, who unveiled the transportation code, thank the management of NIWA for the sensitisation campaign and promised Niger state’s support and collaboration with the Authority.

A demonstration supervised by the NIWA Niger/Kwara area office manager, Mr. Adeboye Akapo was carried out by the Authority’s search and rescue team.
The event was witnessed by Ibrahim Mohammed, the Vice Chairman of Katcha local government, amongst other dignitaries.
