The Okun Development Association has paid a courtesy call on the governor of Kogi state Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on Friday at the government house, Lokoja and promised to always support and partner with the government for the development of OKUNLAND in particular and Kogi state at large.
The President General of Okun Development Association, Ambassador Akenson Rotimi commended the governor for his developmental policies and programmes. He acknowledged government efforts in the area of security but implore government to do more because OKUNLAND is being ravage by the bandits at the moment.
Earlier, the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman, Okun Area Traditional Council, Oba Dr. Solomon Dele Owoniyi emphasized on insecurity in OKUNLAND and called on traditional rulers to profile land buyer before selling land to strangers while promised the governor of the corporation of Traditional rulers to restore peace in OKUNLAND.
A prominent Okun son, Alhaji Isa Ajiboye said OKUN and Ebira have an uncommon bond right from Kwara which neccesitated the construction of specialist hospital and university in OKUNLAND by the two former Governors, Alhaji Adamu Atta and Alhaji Yahaya Bello respectfully. He therefore expressed the confidence that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo will handover to an Okun person after his tenure.
Responding, the Governor thanked Okun people for their loyalty and support for his administration and assured them that the insecurity in OKUNLAND will soon be a thing of the past. The Governor said it’s the responsibility of the government to secure the citizens and every part of the state.
